Reflections from the people who practice with Elizabeth.
I'm writing to update my review to account for the private yoga sessions I've been taking with Elizabeth. These have opened up a whole new level of self-awareness and confidence as Elizabeth coaches my movements and helps me fine-tune or modify poses consistent with my aging and anatomy. Her passion for yoga shines through and is contagiously motivating. As a student, I feel like she is really paying attention and genuinely cares about my growth on and off the mat. As my teacher, Elizabeth is a great listener and remarkably patient, and it is obvious she spends time in advance preparing to work around my specific challenges. I love that she is a fierce feminist and is always thoughtful and creative with our lessons. She also has a great sense of humor about it all, especially necessary in these precarious times. I was hesitant at first to invest in privates but it has been so worth it. I get more out of class and I've started to be able to develop my own routine. And I feel great after. Highly recommended.
I love this instructor!!! Being new to yoga makes it hard to understand positions, techniques, and how important the breath is in this practice. I was scared at first, but Elizabeth made it really easy, and most importantly enjoyable so that I want to come back over and over again. Now I am not so afraid of yoga, and I really look forward to every class. Elizabeth really breaks down the importance of your posture, your position, WHY you are doing what you are doing, and your breath. Thank goodness I got introduced to yoga through Elizabeth. She is a GREAT teacher.
I have done yoga on and off for about 15 years and first took Elizabeth's online class during the Covid emergency. It was by far the most "real" class I have taken so far with the kind of specificity and personal attention you get in a live yoga class. She is extremely well versed in the asanas and doesn't skimp on the teaching aspect of each pose as sometimes occurs in mixed level classes. I appreciate the reminders for form, safety and breath throughout the class. I also appreciate seeing people working alongside me (on video) with all different levels of experience, all benefitting from the practice. Yoga is for everyone and benefits everyone of every shape and size. This class really represents a serious student and teacher of yoga sharing her knowledge and, like the best teachers is able to offer something for everyone.
Her instructions and verbal adjustments were skillful, pace was perfect, vibe was light hearted yet deep. I knew right away I was in good hands. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
All my life I was told by many friends and colleages : "You should do YOGA ! It would help you so much in everything !" I've tried many times, a class here, a class there, but It never clicked for me. I kept doing other physical practices: martial arts-dance-gym training...and then the covid-19 hit us all. So YOGA came to me again but this time in the shape of online classes with the inspiring, rigorous, yet funny and humanitarian Elizabeth Ziff. It finally clicked. Her classes are full of light, precise and relaxed at the same time. As a teacher she is real and empathetic, full of wit and great at feeding us with nourishing details. I am understanding more then ever the meaning, the complexity and the richness of this practice. It has truly helped me go through this tough and intense time we are all in. I highly recommend her classes !
Elizabeth is the best yoga teacher I've ever had. I would highly recommend getting private lessons with her, it will change your life. She'll teach you the practice beyond the posses and guide you towards a more centered life.
Elizabeth is a star instructor - down to earth, fun and inspiring, her classes are great for students of all levels. Best of all, although she is totally fit, she isn't one of these young bouncy instructors who push to hard or fast and can lead to injury. She guides us with clear instructions and her class ALWAYS leaves me feeling stronger and more relaxed.
Elizabeth Ziff is a caring, focused, generous teacher and guide. She is remarkably able to guide a diverse group of people with differing flexibility and capacities. She gives clear instructions - modeled by her colleague Maggie - and offering gentle but meaningful feedback to each of us as needed. I admit to having been a little skeptical about doing yoga online, but here is an added benefit: I get to listen to Elizabeth and watch Maggie and not get distracted by comparing myself or my progress with others. It's a great goal of a yoga practice in general and so much easier to attain in this context. I cannot recommend yoga classes with Elizabeth enough. They are a highlight to my week!
What a wonderful saving grace to discover during isolation! I have been 'talking' about getting into Yoga for more years than I want to count. Started taking Elizabeth's Zoom classes and bam, I'm hooked! With Elizabeth choreographing and leading, Maggie as the demonstrator, it is very easy to follow. Elizabeth is able to describe exactly what you want your body to do for a pose, and her enthusiasm and encouragement as she walks you through, makes for a very successful in-home virtual experience. I can't wait to have an in-person session on the other side.
